Red hatched areas show where Meta's interface covers your content. Keep headlines, CTAs, and logos out of these zones.

HOW TO USE THE SAFE ZONE TOOL

  1. Upload your ad creative — JPG or PNG, any size.
  2. Select the placement: Reels & Stories (9:16), Portrait Feed (4:5), or Square Feed (1:1).
  3. Toggle safe zones to see where Meta's UI elements will cover your content (shown in red).
  4. Toggle mock UI to see a realistic preview of how your ad appears in the feed or Stories.
  5. Adjust your creative to keep headlines, CTAs, and logos out of the red zones.

WHY AD SAFE ZONES MATTER

Meta overlays UI elements — profile icons, engagement buttons, captions, and CTA buttons — on top of your ad creative. If your key messaging falls under these elements, it becomes unreadable and your ad underperforms.

This is especially critical for Stories and Reels where up to 40% of the screen can be covered by UI. Checking safe zones before publishing prevents wasted ad spend on creatives that don't land.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the safe zone for Instagram Reels ads?

For Reels and Stories (9:16 / 1080x1920), keep important content in the middle 60% of the frame. The top 14% is covered by the username and status bar, and the bottom 30% is covered by captions, CTA buttons, and engagement icons.

What size should my Facebook Feed ad be?

Facebook recommends 1080x1350 (4:5 portrait) for Feed ads as it takes up the most screen real estate. Square (1:1 / 1080x1080) also works well. Avoid landscape formats which appear small in mobile feeds.

Does this tool save or upload my images?

No. All image processing happens locally in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to any server — they stay completely private on your device.

Why does my square image look cropped on Reels?

Reels uses a 9:16 (vertical) format. If you upload a 1:1 (square) image, it will be cropped or have black bars. Always create separate creatives sized correctly for each placement.
